The Schedule

All times Pacific. Sessions start on the minute; the fog does not.

01

Arrive & Kick Off

Wednesday, October 14
  • 11:30 AM

    Vans depart the SF studio

Curbside at 450 Bryant Street. Two twelve-seaters. Marcus counts heads at 11:25.

  • 1:00 PM

Check in at the lodge, drop bags

Room keys with Dana in the barn. Rooms may not be ready until 3:00 — leave bags in the hall.

  • 1:30 PM

    Lunch on the deck Food

Sandwiches and a large, non-negotiable Bovine Bakery run.

  • 2:30 PM

    Kickoff: where we actually are

Priya, 30 minutes, no deck. Questions welcome throughout.

  • 3:30 PM

    Working session I — the 2027 bet

Breakouts of four in the barn, the loft, and the two picnic tables. Read-in was sent Monday.

  • 5:30 PM

    Free hour Optional

Tomales Bay swim for the brave. Water is 54°F. Towels are by the side door.

  • 7:00 PM

    Dinner at Osteria Stellina Reserved

Private room, family style. Walkable from the lodge in 12 minutes, or catch a van at 6:45.

  • 9:00 PM

Fire pit, and stars if the sky cooperates

Dana is hauling the telescope up from Petaluma. Saturn is worth the cold.

02

The Long Good Day

Thursday, October 15
  • 7:00 AM

Coffee and pastries in the barn

Real coffee. Two kettles. Oat milk exists this year.

  • 8:00 AM

Trail run, Bear Valley loop Optional

3.5 miles, mostly flat, back by 8:45. Ines leads at a genuinely easy pace.

  • 9:00 AM

Working session II — design systems debt

What we ship around instead of fixing. Bring your three worst examples.

  • 10:45 AM

Working session III — craft critique, in pairs

Forty minutes each way. You are the only person who will ever look this closely at their work.

  • 12:30 PM

Picnic lunch, packed by the lodge Food

Grab your bag from the crate by the door. It has your name on it. Take it on the hike.

  • 1:30 PM

Hike: Chimney Rock to the seal overlook Boots

4.2 miles round trip, 420 feet of gain, wind off the ocean the whole way. Vans leave at 1:30 and return at 4:15. A shorter bluff loop runs the same window for anyone who wants it.

  • 4:30 PM

Back at the barn — showers, naps, nothing

Deliberately empty. Please actually take it.

  • 6:00 PM

    Demo Night The main event

Five minutes each. Working things only, no slides, no roadmaps. Sign up on the board in the barn by noon. Twelve slots, and they go.

  • 8:00 PM

Dinner at Sir & Star Reserved

Family style, one long table. Vans at 7:40 from the lodge gate.

  • 10:00 PM

Cards, and the good record player

Back at the barn. Quiet hours at midnight, honestly enforced.

03

Land It & Go Home

Friday, October 16
  • 8:00 AM

    Breakfast, bags in the hall

Checkout is 10:00. Strip your bed, leave the towels in the tub, keys in the bowl.

  • 9:00 AM

Working session IV — what we commit to

Six things, each with a name and a date. Nothing leaves this room unowned.

  • 10:30 AM

    Rituals and retro

What we keep, what we kill, what we forgot we were even doing.

  • 11:30 AM

    Closing circle

One sentence each. Yes, everyone. Yes, you too.

  • 12:00 PM

Lunch — cheese, bread, oysters Food

Cowgirl Creamery barn, picnic tables out back. Oysters shucked on site at noon.

Lodging

The Lodge at Tomales Bay — whole property, ours for three nights.

12 Sir Francis Drake Blvd
Inverness, CA 94937
Front desk (24h)  (415) 555‑0100

Check‑in 1:00 PM Wednesday · Checkout 10:00 AM Friday. Rooming list is on the barn door; swap with Dana, not with each other.

Getting there

By van (recommended). Departs 450 Bryant Street, San Francisco, Wednesday at 11:30 AM. Returns Friday, arriving about 3:15 PM.

Driving yourself. About 1 hour 20 minutes from the city via US‑101 North and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Free lot behind the lodge; gate code 4417. Tell Marcus so we do not hold a van seat.

Flying in. Land at SFO or OAK before 9:30 AM Wednesday and take BART to Montgomery, then walk. Later than that, ping Marcus and we will sort a ride.

Two things that catch people out

Cell service is thin past Olema. Download your maps and your music before you leave. Lodge wi‑fi is TOMALES‑GUEST / foghorn2026 and it is fine for email, not for uploads.

Meals are covered — all of them, plus coffee. Anything else, expense it and tag the note "Offsite 2026". Dietary needs go to Ines by October 6 so the lodge can plan.
